Emirates airline is upgrading its in-flight experience by installing high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi on all 232 of its wide-body aircraft. The rollout begins this month, with a Boeing 777-300ER at the Dubai Airshow serving as a testing ground for passengers before full service commences after November 21st.
Free Access for All Passengers
Unlike many airline Wi-Fi services, Emirates will offer Starlink access completely free to all passengers – no loyalty program membership required. This move sets Emirates apart by providing a premium internet experience without additional cost.
Fleet-Wide Upgrade Timeline
The installation process will continue at roughly 14 aircraft per month over the next two years. Larger Airbus A380 planes will receive three Starlink antennas to ensure comprehensive coverage across all cabins, while other wide-body aircraft like the Boeing 777 will utilize two. Airbus A380 upgrades are scheduled to begin in February 2026.
Enhanced Connectivity Experience
Starlink’s technology delivers internet speeds comparable to ground-based connections, enabling seamless video streaming, live television, and ample bandwidth for multiple devices. Emirates plans to launch live TV streaming via Starlink on personal devices by late December, with integration into seatback screens to follow.
This is a major step forward for in-flight connectivity. By making high-speed Wi-Fi free for all passengers, Emirates is setting a new standard for comfort and convenience in air travel. The upgrade will not only improve passenger experience but also position Emirates as a leader in aviation technology.
