Google Pixel 10a Expected to Feature Popular Bright Pink Color Option

Google is planning to reintroduce a vibrant pink color, dubbed “berry,” for its upcoming Pixel 10a smartphone, according to reliable mobile leaker Roland Quandt. This move comes as the company prepares to launch the budget-friendly device as early as mid-February, earlier than the release of its predecessor, the Pixel 9a.

Color Options and Market Demand

Alongside the anticipated “berry” shade, the Pixel 10a will also be available in obsidian (black), fog (light gray), and lavender. The decision to include pink is notable, given its consistent popularity among Pixel users. As CNET senior technology reporter Abrar Al-Heeti points out, even with cases covering the device, a bold color choice can elevate a phone from a utilitarian tool to a personal statement.

Competitors like Apple and Samsung routinely offer pink options in their lineups, making it a logical inclusion for Google’s affordable Pixel series. Google itself has previously experimented with pink tones – the Pixel 9 and 9a featured a bright “peony” hue, while the 9 Pro had a more subdued “rose quartz” finish. The Pixel 10 series currently lacks a pinkish hue.

Early Launch and Specifications

The expected mid-February release date is sooner than previous models. The Pixel 9a launched in mid-March of last year, with availability following on April 10.

While the Pixel 10a will come in 128GB and 256GB storage options, leaks suggest it won’t feature a significant hardware upgrade. The device is likely to retain a similar design to the Pixel 9a, and may not incorporate Google’s latest Tensor G5 chip. This indicates the Pixel 10a will primarily focus on affordability rather than groundbreaking performance improvements.

The Pixel 10a’s color options and early launch demonstrate Google’s responsiveness to consumer demand and its commitment to maintaining an accessible entry point into the Pixel ecosystem. The lack of major hardware upgrades reinforces the device’s positioning as a budget-friendly alternative.
