Motorola and Lenovo Launch Qira: A Universal AI Assistant for Seamless Device Integration

Motorola and its parent company, Lenovo, unveiled Qira, a new AI assistant designed to operate system-wide across all their devices. The launch, which took place at CES in Las Vegas, signals a move towards more integrated AI experiences, aiming to eliminate friction between smartphones, PCs, tablets, and wearables. Qira won the Best AI category in the Best of CES 2026 Awards.

Context-Aware Assistance Across Devices

Unlike traditional digital assistants requiring app switching, Qira functions at the operating system level. This means users can seamlessly transition between devices without losing context; tasks started on a phone can be continued on a laptop, and vice versa. The key is continuity : Qira learns user patterns over time to anticipate needs and provide proactive assistance.

For example, if Qira detects an upcoming flight, it can automatically check you in upon arrival at the airport – no manual app-digging required. Reminders, notes, and notifications sync across all connected Motorola and Lenovo devices, ensuring information follows the user, not the device.

How Qira Works

Qira is activated with the voice command “Hey, Qira” or through a dedicated key on Lenovo and Motorola hardware. The assistant offers several core functions:

  • Adaptive Drafting : Compose documents and messages in a style mirroring your own writing.
  • Real-Time Tools : Transcribe meetings, translate languages, and summarize key points on the fly.
  • Smart Notifications : Filter and prioritize notifications, ensuring only critical alerts break through.
  • Offline Functionality : Maintain essential AI features even without an internet connection.

Lenovo’s VP of AI Ecosystem, Dan Dery, emphasized the goal: “To make AI feel less like a tool and more like an intelligence working with you, continuously and naturally.”

Partnerships and Future Expansion

Motorola and Lenovo are collaborating with major AI platforms—Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity —to enhance Qira’s capabilities. This builds on existing AI efforts previously branded as Moto AI, streamlining them under the Qira umbrella.

The rollout begins in the first quarter of this year with select Lenovo devices, followed by broader support for Motorola smartphones. This expansion will further strengthen partnerships with AI giants, moving beyond gimmicks towards genuinely useful mobile AI.

In essence, Qira represents a step toward a more unified digital experience where AI anticipates user needs and seamlessly bridges the gap between devices.
