Apple dropped iOS 27 public beta 2 on our devices earlier today. It’s not the game-changer the first beta was. The first one gave us the bulk of the new features — the Siri AI stuff, the heavy lifting. This version? It’s quieter. It’s about smoothing edges.
But it’s not empty. There are three specific updates worth testing right now.
Before you dive in: install the beta using the official guide, and yes, back up your device. Fresh backup. Don’t skip this. If the software fries your phone, you don’t want to lose your photos.
Auto-download for Apple TV
Love Widow’s Bay? Or just any show where the next episode hooks you hard?
If you travel often — away from decent WiFi, in the middle of nowhere or on a plane — this feature helps. The Apple TV app now lets you set automatic downloads.
It grabs the next two episodes in your “Continue Watching” list. Stores them locally. Deletes them once you finish. Simple.
It eats storage space. So check your capacity before turning it on. But when airplane mode is your reality, having content ready to go is a lifesaver.
Customize Siri’s Voice
Siri AI is the main event for iOS 27. Beta 2 tweaks how you interact with it.
You can now adjust two sliders for two American-accented voices:
- Pace : Speed it up or slow it down.
- Expressivity : Make it sound more animated or flat.
This gives you a sneak peek at the customization depth coming later. The rest of the voice options? They show “coming soon.” Wait for them.
Apple also added new English accents. You can’t tweak them yet. Just listen. See if they fit.
Control AirPods in Control Center
This is small but useful. If you have AirPods Pro and use Adaptive Audio, you can now control the transparency slider directly from the Control Center.
No more digging through settings menus. Tap the slider. Adjust how much outside noise gets in. Done.
It’s a time saver. And in mobile OS updates, time savers add up.
Try Siri AI Now
The beta doesn’t bring massive Siri changes yet. But if you want to test it, here’s the deal.
You need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer running iOS 27 beta.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Siri.
- Tap “Try the new Siri (beta)”.
- Make sure Apple Intelligence is enabled.
It’s ready. Go see what it does. The full experience is coming later, but this is your chance to see if the voice customization and responses click for you.
The update feels like preparation. A deep breath before the big release. See what works. Ignore what doesn’t. And keep your backup ready.
