This isn’t a small loan. Sources tell us the investment stretches into multiple billions. Bloomberg puts the specific number at $5 billion. Either way, SSI gets access to Nvidia’s upcoming Vera Rubin GPU platform. This isn’t just an upgrade. It increases SSI’s compute resources by an order of magnitude.

Nvidia isn’t just buying stock here. It’s buying time. Or rather, it’s buying influence over the foundational techniques of artificial superintelligence. By signing this compute partnership, Nvidia gets rare access into SSI’s closely guarded labs.
“We have research that is worthy of scaling up,” Sutskever said. “We are confident that our big bets on the Vera Rubin platform will take us the next level.”
The chipmaker says this deal accelerates SSI’s growth. But let’s look closer at the mechanism. Nvidia gains unique insights into the future of AI through SSI’s technology. In return, SSI gets the massive processing power needed to test theories that most other labs can’t even attempt.
A “Straight Shot” to Superintelligence

The goal is narrower but deeper: safe, aligned artificial superintelligence.

But the last few years have been messy. He left OpenAI after the failed ouster of Sam Altman. He cited a “breakdown in communications,” which is corporate speak for a war. Before that, he led the Superalignment team, which was eventually dissolved.
